Completing CE hours doesn't help you if those hours aren't actually credited to your OCI record. The good news is that Georgia makes it easy to check your CE credit balance throughout your renewal cycle. Checking regularly lets you catch reporting gaps before they become renewal emergencies.

Here's how to check your CE credit balance in Georgia.

Why Regular CE Checks Matter

Most Georgia agents assume their CE completions are reported correctly — and most of the time, they are. But reporting errors happen. Providers miss submissions. Data gets misplaced. Courses get entered under the wrong license type.

If you don't check periodically, you won't discover a reporting problem until you try to renew. At that point, fixing it is a scramble.

Checking your CE balance every few months throughout your 2-year cycle catches problems while there's still time to fix them calmly.

Where to Check Your CE Balance

Georgia offers several ways to verify your CE status:

Option 1 — OCI's Online Producer Portal. OCI maintains an online system where licensed producers can view their CE status, license information, and completion history. Access through oci.georgia.gov.

Option 2 — Sircon. Sircon (sircon.com) is an authorized platform that provides access to your Georgia licensing and CE information. Many agents find Sircon's interface easier to navigate than OCI's portal.

Option 3 — NIPR. The National Insurance Producer Registry (nipr.com) provides some license information, though Sircon is typically more comprehensive for CE tracking.

What You'll Need to Log In

To access your CE information:

  • Your Georgia license number

  • Your National Producer Number (NPN)

  • Personal identifying information (date of birth, Social Security number)

  • Account credentials if you've registered previously

First-time users may need to create an account or verify their identity through a one-time process.

What Your CE Record Shows

When you access your CE record, you'll typically see:

Your current cycle information:

  • The start and end dates of your current 2-year renewal cycle

  • Your upcoming renewal deadline

Your CE hours summary:

  • Total hours completed in the current cycle

  • Total hours required (typically 24 for most licenses)

  • Remaining hours needed

Specific requirements status:

  • Ethics hours completed (toward the 3-hour requirement)

  • Specialty training status (LTC, annuity) if applicable

Individual course completions:

  • Course names

  • Provider names

  • Completion dates

  • Hours earned per course

  • Content categories

Take time to understand this breakdown. It shows not just your total hours but whether specific requirements are satisfied.

How Often to Check

At minimum, check 3 times per cycle:

  • Around the halfway point (month 12) — verify you're on track

  • At the 60-day mark before renewal — confirm everything is on target

  • At the 30-day mark before renewal — last chance to catch issues

For most agents, quarterly checks work well. Log in every 3 months. It takes 5 minutes and can save you weeks of stress.

What to Do If Hours Are Missing

If you completed a course but don't see it credited within 30 days:

Step 1 — Contact the course provider.

Ask them to confirm they reported your completion. Most issues are resolved here. Providers can retransmit or correct submissions.

Step 2 — Save your completion certificate.

Every approved provider issues a certificate after course completion. This certificate is your proof if there's ever a dispute. Save digital and printed copies.

Step 3 — Contact OCI directly if the provider submitted correctly.

If the provider confirms they reported but OCI's system still doesn't show it, contact OCI with your completion certificate. They can investigate and correct their record.

Common Reporting Issues

Provider submission delay. The provider took longer than expected to report. Usually resolved by contacting them.

Course entered under wrong license type. A course approved for P&C may have been reported under your P&C license instead of Life and Health. Contact the provider to correct.

Duplicate submissions. The same course shows up twice. Usually a minor issue but worth clarifying.

Missing ethics designation. A course that qualifies as ethics wasn't flagged correctly. Ask the provider to correct the category.

Course expired before completion. Some courses have completion deadlines. If you took too long to finish, the completion may not report.

Most reporting issues are straightforward to resolve when caught early.

What If You Didn't Finish a Course?

If you started a course but didn't complete it (didn't pass the assessment, didn't finish all modules), it won't report. No partial credit is given for insurance CE.

Check with the provider about:

  • Whether you can complete the remaining portion

  • Whether you need to restart the course

  • Whether additional fees apply for re-entry

Checking CE for Multiple Licenses

If you hold multiple Georgia licenses (Life/Health and P&C, for example), each license has its own CE record. Some courses count toward multiple licenses, others are line-specific.

When checking CE, verify that hours are counted correctly toward each specific license. A course that qualifies for both may need separate reporting.

Maintaining Your Own CE Log

Smart agents maintain a personal CE log as backup — a simple spreadsheet listing:

  • Course name

  • Provider

  • Completion date

  • Hours earned

  • Content category (ethics, life, health, etc.)

  • Certificate location (where you saved the completion certificate)

Your personal log is your insurance against OCI reporting gaps, provider closures, or system errors. If something goes wrong, your log plus saved certificates provides the documentation needed to correct records.

5 Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How quickly should completed CE appear in my OCI record? Typically within 7–30 days of completion. Some providers report within days, others take a few weeks. Check back periodically.

  2. Can I self-report CE hours in Georgia? No. Georgia requires approved providers to submit completions electronically. You don't self-report.

  3. What if a course provider goes out of business before reporting my hours? Contact OCI directly with your completion certificate. They can often accept documentation to correct the record.

  4. Do I need to keep completion certificates after hours are credited? Yes. Save them indefinitely. They're your proof if reporting is ever questioned or corrected years later.

  5. Is there a way to check my CE status without logging into OCI or Sircon? Your CE provider can confirm hours they've submitted, but they can't show OCI's record. For your actual credited hours, you need to access your OCI record through one of the authorized portals.
